Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to visit Hubbard Homestead Park and explore the new play area that opened on March 2! The play area is located in the northeast portion of Hubbard Homestead Park,11203 5th Ave NE, in the Northgate neighborhood.
The new play area includes an airplane play structure, that honors Mr. Hubbard who served in WWII and whose family previously owned the site prior to it becoming a park. The addition of the play area creates a multi-generational park with opportunities for kids to slide, swing, spin and climb. Additionally, the play area project provides benches, play area safety surfacing along with new landscaping and paving around the play area.
As part of the park improvement project SPR is working with One Roof Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena, to expand the existing basketball court and create a new paved sports court with basketball hoops and goals at each end. The sports court will be completed by summer 2026. This project provides increased opportunities for outdoor recreation with multiple uses for the current basketball court.
