Shape Lake City Community Center! Review Design & Provide Feedback on the Play Area

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and the Seattle Office of Housing (OH) have partnered with Mercy Housing to develop a new facility for Lake City that will include a community center with 112 affordable housing units above. We are seeking final feedback on the community center design and input on the new play areas to be built adjacent to the community center building. All are encouraged to participate and help shape the future of the Lake City Community Center and play areas that will replace the existing play area in Albert Davis Park.

To gather community feedback, SPR is offering three different opportunities for the community to provide input. Please participate in-person or online and take the play area survey.

1. Drop-In Event on Tuesday, March 10 from 4:30 – 6:30 pm at Lake City branch Library, 12501 28th Ave. NE
2. Online Community Meeting on Thursday, March 12 from 5 – 6 pm. Participate in a  Zoom webinar!

3. Online Survey for all to participate – https://engageseattleparks.com/index.php?cID=619
Survey is translated into multiple languages(Amharic, Arabic, Chinese, Oromo, Russian, Somali, Spanish, Tigrinya, Ukrainian, Vietnamese).

These events will provide an opportunity for the community to meet the design team, ask questions, and provide feedback. The Lake City Community Center design was informed by the feedback we received last year during the early design and needs assessment phases.

The Lake City Community Center redevelopment is a unique opportunity to co-locate a new community center with affordable housing units in an area with frequent transit, realizing multiple public benefits. It is the first development partnership between OH and SPR and will allow the City to combine resources to create more affordable housing and a much needed community center. SPR will continue to own and operate the Lake City Community Center, 12531 28th Avenue NE., once it is redeveloped. The Center will continue to be an integral part of the Lake City’s neighborhood, serving as a hub for community activities and bringing together people of all ages, abilities, and cultures.

SPR and the design team encourage you to participate and help design the new Lake City Community Center! For more information please visit https://engageseattleparks.com/index.php?cID=619.
