Seattle Parks and Recreation is thrilled to announce that Seward Park has once again been recognized with the prestigious Green Flag Award! This international honor celebrates parks that meet the highest standards in sustainability, community engagement, and biodiversity.
Seward Park, a 300-acre urban oasis designed by the Olmsted brothers in 1912, is a cornerstone of Seattle’s green spaces. With 120 acres of old-growth forest, miles of hiking trails, a swimming beach, tennis courts, an amphitheater, and the beloved Audubon Center and Seward Park Clay Studio, Seward Park offers something for everyone.
“Winning the Green Flag Award for the second year in a row is a testament to the park’s exceptional standards and our commitment to creating a thriving environment,” said AP Diaz, Parks Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation.
This award reflects the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and community members who work tirelessly to make Seward Park a world-class destination. It also highlights Seattle Parks and Recreation’s mission to foster sustainability, inclusivity, and environmental stewardship across all our green spaces.
We are proud to see Seward Park recognized on an international stage and remain committed to maintaining its beauty and accessibility for generations to come.
Thank you to everyone who contributes to making Seward Park a shining example of what a park can be. Let’s continue to celebrate and protect this incredible space!
