Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR) and Seattle Office of Sustainability and Environment invite the South Park community to learn more and provide input on the future of the Duwamish Waterway Park Expansion. Please join us on Tuesday, July 15 between 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the South Park Library, 604 6th Ave S., or Thursday, July 17 between 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the South Park Neighborhood Center, 8201 10th Ave. S. This project responds to the Duwamish Valley Action Plan‘s goals to advance environmental justice in the Duwamish Valley.
The one-acre expansion site, located between 1024 S Elmgrove Street, 98108, was purchased with the support of the community in 2021. These outreach events in July will provide the community an opportunity to review site plan alternatives that reflect previous community engagement. We hope to see you at one of the events, however, if you are an able to attend you may also participate by taking this survey https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/UE-Survey1. The input gathered from the survey will help inform the final site plans.
The property is under an Agreed Order from the Washington State Department of Ecology. The Agreed Order will last through at least 2028. At the end of the Agreed Order we will work to secure funding for the construction of the park and reengage with the community on the next steps of planning and design.
