Join us! Thursday, July 10
Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to join our project team and partner Inclusion Matters to provide design input for the renovation of the Miller Playfield Play Area. Please join Thursday, July 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Miller Community Center, 330 19th Ave E. This is an opportunity to meet the design team and share your hopes and dreams for the future play area.
SPR is honored to work with Inclusion Matters to develop a fully inclusive play area for the community at Miller Playfield. Inclusion Matters is a nonprofit working with communities internationally to create play, dignity, and social equity for children with disabilities through the creation of inclusive playgrounds and education programs that unite children of all abilities.
This project will replace the play equipment, install play area grass safety surfacing and make accessibility improvements for the play area adjacent to the Miller Community Center. The equipment will include play structures and seating for children of all abilities ages 2 to 12. Seattle Parks and Recreation and Inclusion Matters look forward to working with the community on the design.
“Miller Community Center and our facilities around the center create an anchor for the northeast Capitol Hill neighborhood, said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent. “From the Solar Microgrid, to the synthetic turf replacement, to this renovated inclusive play area, Seattle Parks and Recreation investments support a thriving community and healthy environment. Additionally, we are happy to be partnering with Inclusion Matters, who will help facility the building of a more inclusive and accessible play space.”
Together we will create the best play area for the neighborhood. A short online survey will be released at the meeting.
