As part of the Swim Seattle Initiative, Seattle Parks and Recreation and the YMCA of Greater Seattle will be offering FREE swim lessons to support our initiative towards eradicating disproportionate drownings amongst young people.
Lessons with Seattle Parks and Recreation
Seattle Parks and Recreation will be offering FREE beginner swim lessons to any participant who is scholarship eligible through the department’s scholarship program beginning Spring 2024.
Participants who qualify for scholarship by the time of registration will be able to sign-up for ANY Beginner Swim Lesson.
Important Registration Dates:
Scholarship eligible participants have early access to registration on the following dates.
- February 27, 2024 – Spring Quarter
- March 26, 2024 – Seasonal Outdoor Pools, Summer Quarter
- May 14, 2024 – Indoor Pools, Summer Quarter
- August 6, 2024 – Fall Quarter

Lessons with the YMCA of Greater Seattle
The YMCA is offering 2 free swimming lessons at any YMCA of Greater Seattle pool. New members of the Y can sign-up for 2 free swim lessons who are applying for financial assistance.
