The 15th annual Guelaguetza celebration took place at the Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park amphitheater this past weekend.
The celebration is a day-long, family event that features live music and dances from Oaxaca, Mexico. Despite the cloudy weather, the park was filled with the bright colors of traditional Oaxacan costumes and festive decorations. Performers tossed goodies out to the crowd, in honor of the celebration of giving.
Guelaguetza is organized by Grupo Cultural Oaxaqueño and was funded by Arts in Parks for the second year. Made possible by the Seattle Park District and in partnership with the Seattle Office of Arts & Culture, Arts in Parks helps to bring outdoor arts and cultural projects to parks around the city.
