Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR), CHAMPS Resource and Service Center, and Parents for Skateparks are excited to announce the construction for the new Rainier Beach Skatepark begins in early January 2026. TERRA DYNAMICS INC. will mobilize on site to begin construction on this community-initiated project located at Rainier Beach Playfield, 4707 S. Cloverdale Street. The new skatepark will be a great addition to the Rainier Beach Community Center, and local sporting activities.
The design of the new skatepark naturally integrates skateboarding into the surrounding landscape and features a mix of street and transition-style terrain, with elements for all age groups and ability levels. It will draw local users to the skatepark, and challenge both beginners and experienced users.
We look forward to a ribbon-cutting celebration in fall 2026 when the project is completed. SPR is thankful for the skateboarding advocates who have supported Seattle Parks and Recreation over the years. It is their input and tireless support that makes Seattle’s skateparks world class. Thank you also to everyone who has participated to date to make this skatepark and community gathering space a reality.
The $4.5 million budget is provided from State, City, County and private fundraising. The project began with support by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from the City of Seattle Department of Neighborhoods. Design and construction funding is provided by Seattle Parks and Recreation and grants from Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and the King County Parks Levy.
