Seattle Parks and Recreation “Welcomes you back to Magnolia Community Center!”

Seattle Parks and Recreation is excited to welcome back the Magnolia community to the renovated Magnolia Community Center!  Please join us on Sat. January 10, 2026, starting at 11 a.m. with a ribbon cutting followed by tours of the building and light refreshments until 1 p.m.

This is an opportunity for the community to learn about the upgrades to the center, meet some of the instructors and provide input on future programming.  Magnolia Community Center is located at 2550 34th Ave W., Seattle WA 98199.

The Magnolia Community Center Stabilization Project focused on extending the life of the facility and increasing programming potential. The center’s accessibility functions were greatly improved by adding a wheelchair lift between the lobby and the gym. Additional improvements  include a roof replacement, structural and seismic enhancements to the gym, a new gym floor, roof access, and fall restraints.

Additionally, window upgrades were made to the multipurpose rooms and hallways to improve heating and cooling. There is a new front reception area that helps staff “welcome back” the community as well as a kitchen and restroom remodel, electrical upgrades, exit signage, and ventilation improvements.

The Seattle Park District and Real-Estate Excise Tax funded the $6.2 million project. All improvements are designed to ensure the community center remains a safe, functional, and welcoming space for all users and generations to come.

Seattle Parks and Recreation looks forward to welcoming the community back to the center!  To help inform future programming at the center please take this short survey https://bit.ly/4ppBmHK.
