Salmon “SEEson” Begins at Carkeek Park

This weekend, join Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Environmental Education Team, the Carkeek Watershed Community Action Project, and Seattle Public Utilities at Carkeek Park to witness the beginning of the annual chum salmon run in Piper’s Creek.

Trained Salmon Stewards Volunteers will be at the park starting this weekend to answer questions and educate visitors about salmon lifecycles, habitat needs, and more. Since the salmon run lasts through the fall, Stewards will be at Carkeek Park from October 24 through December 6, 2026 on the following schedule:

  • Saturdays & Sundays from 11-3pm
  • Wednesdays from 2-4pm

Stewards are hoping for rain this weekend, which will help bring the salmon home. (Don’t forget to look for the beavers too, who have been hard at work on the wetlands.)

To see salmon returning at other King County parks, visit Salmon SEEson.
