Seattle Parks and Recreation launches Park CommUNITY Fund Workshop Series

Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR) is excited to announce the launch of the  Park CommUNITY Fund Workshop series.  The Park CommUNITY Fund advances park equity in Seattle through a community-led funding process. The fund invests in both large and small capital projects, utilizing participatory budgeting and equitable grant-making practices. The Seattle Park District has allocated funding to the Park CommUNITY Fund for investments in Seattle communities between 2023 and 2028.

This series aims to build and empower community by providing opportunities to partner with Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Park CommUNITY Fund and advance park equity in Seattle. SPR developed the following opportunities for community to learn more and participate through the Park CommUNITY Fund workshop series:

  • Dec. 4 at noon:  Park CommUNITY Fund Update & 2026 Kickoff (Online)
    • General overview of the Park CommUNITY Fund process, updates from the first cycle, and early preview for the in-person workshop series sessions.
  • Dec 18 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm: Park Development 101 (In-Person)
    • Session to learn how park development projects come to be and how community can get involved in the process.
  • Jan 22: Power Building in Your Community (In-Person)
    • Session to learn ways to organize your community and neighborhood to advocate for the park investments you desire to see.
  • Feb. 5: Updates to the Park CommUNITY Fund Program and Process (In-Person)
    • Session to collaborate with Park CommUNITY Fund staff to refine and improve the PCF process for the second cycle.
