Explore Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Completed Capital Projects Map

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to share our Cycle 2 Capital Project Completions Map with you!

With the adoption of the Seattle Park District Cycle 2 financial plan in 2022, SPR made a variety of capital project commitments for the 2023-2028 period—renovating 27 restrooms and 33 play areas, removing hundreds of accessibility barriers, developing new parks, performing much needed major maintenance on community centers, and many more.

We also committed to ongoing reporting so the public and elected officials can see how we’re putting tax dollars to work building and maintaining great parks system. We update our financial and performance dashboards twice a year and also release an annual report of our activities.

Today, we add a new tool to our reporting repertoire—a map showing all completed capital projects and giving some details about them.

Check out the Cycle 2 Capital Project Completions Map here. You can explore the dozens of capital projects SPR has completed so far in Cycle 2 by filtering by type of project, the year it was completed, or Council District. Click on a specific project to learn more about it.

A little more about the map…

  • SPR’s capital improvement plan is large and complex, with hundreds of active projects at any given time. Projects move through a variety of phases in their journey from ideas to construction and completion. This map only includes projects that were completed during the years of Cycle 2 (2023-2028), not the many projects in various stages of planning, design, or construction, or any completed projects prior to 2023. To learn more about projects in process, see our website.
  • This map does also not include capital projects in our Urban Forestry (Restoration) line of business. Due to the nature of urban forest restoration, this work is generally managed as an ongoing project without regular “project completions.” It also does not include projects related to Acquisitions. SPR’s annual reports and their appendices report on the work performed by these lines of business.
  • This map only includes projects with singular geographic locations. SPR also regularly completes projects (such as citywide plans and feasibility studies) that do not have a specific geographic location.
  • This map displays data that is updated on a regular basis as capital projects are completed. Visit again to see our progress toward our Cycle 2 goals.
