Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) will begin paving repairs on portions of the Burke-Gilman Trail, located between Northeast 77th Street and Inverness Drive in northeast Seattle, in September 2025. The project will address sections of the trail impacted by age and root damage.
Construction is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. During this time, the trail will remain open to the public. Temporary gravel ramps will be installed, and all repair sections will remain passable, however, surface conditions will be uneven at repair sites.
Trail users are advised to exercise caution when traveling through work zones. Cyclists should dismount and walk their bikes around construction equipment, using the trail shoulder when necessary.
SPR appreciates the public’s patience as we complete these improvements to ensure the Burke-Gilman Trail remains a safe and reliable recreational asset for the community. Please see below for a map of where repair work will occur:

With funding from the Seattle Park District, SPR can maintain the Burke Gilman Trail to ensure this valuable community asset remains a safe, accessible, and enjoyable resource for all users. Within the scope of our Asset Management & Life Cycle Program, we conduct routine repairs on sections of the Burke-Gilman Trail where accessibility is impacted by paving deterioration from age and uplift caused by roots.
