Elliott Bay Connections to Begin Construction in Myrtle Edwards and Centennial Parks as Early as March 2025

The Elliott Bay Connections (EBC) project will begin construction to restore and revitalize Myrtle Edwards and Centennial Parks as early as March 2025. The City of Seattle owns and manages Myrtle Edwards Park, and the Port of Seattle owns and manages Centennial Park.Together, these two public parks total 16 acres, extending for more than one and a half miles along Elliott Bay.The Elliott Bay Connections project is a public-private partnership funded entirely by private philanthropic donations, with the Downtown Seattle Association serving as the project implementation partner.

On February 10, the project began construction on a new pedestrian and bicyclist greenway trail along Alaskan Way, which will connect the new Waterfront Park to the Olympic Sculpture Park. All planned improvements are expected to be complete before Seattle hosts the FIFA World Cup™ in June 2026.

Elliott Bay Connections will add and update park amenities, including paths, picnic tables, seating and lighting.

Improvements include a new public amenities building with restrooms and a food concession, refreshed park landscapes, lighting and repaired pedestrian and bike trails. Revitalized landscaping will feature abundant native plantings, including new lawns, meadows and trees. Access to two beach coves in Myrtle Edwards Park will be expanded, enhancing the shoreline habitat and making it easier for people to touch the water.

The new public amenities building in Centennial Park will feature restrooms and a food concession. The design of the building and its surrounding landscape draws on Coast Salish culture.

Construction in Myrtle Edwards and Centennial Parks will be phased, with closures scheduled to limit impacts on park users and sensitive fish and wildlife. Work will start in Centennial Park, between the Pier 86 Grain Terminal and The Beach at Expedia Group. This work will include demolition of the existing public restroom facility, installation of underground utilities, landscaping and bike path restoration.
