Seattle Public Schools (SPS) invites the community to attend a public meeting to discuss the proposed development of a new synthetic turf athletic field to support Lincoln High School and the public during the next two years. The meeting will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at Lincoln High School, 4400 Interlake Avenue N, and will also be accessible online via Microsoft Teams (link to be posted to the website on September 18: https://www.seattleschools.org/departments/capital-projects-and-planning/school-construction/projects/lincoln-field/.
During the meeting, SPS will be seeking community input on using Wallingford Playfield as the location for the new Lincoln High School Practice Field. The School District needs the field because students are being displaced during the Memorial Stadium renovation. The meeting will discuss why Lincoln High School students need a dedicated field, other location options and proposed upgrades to the Lower Woodland #7 track.
The proposed Lincoln High School Practice Field will provide students and the public with a state-of-the-art, full-size synthetic turf field for soccer, multi-use and football, along with on-site amenities such as restrooms and athletic equipment storage. Following the approval of the 2022 capital levy by Seattle voters, SPS committed to addressing this need by including a new practice field for Lincoln High School in the list of school-specific projects.
Additionally, a practice running track at the nearby Lower Woodland #7 field will be upgraded to meet the needs of Lincoln’s growing track and field program.
