Seattle Parks and Recreation Winter Weather Impacts, 1/11/2024

Due to the current and/or forecasted winter weather conditions, some Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) programs are impacted.

As of January 11, 2024, the following programs are impacted:

  • Lifelong Recreation: Due to forecasted temperatures below freezing, we are cancelling the following Lifelong Recreation programs on Friday, January 12th: Out and About Walks (Dementia Friendly), Run Club (Outdoor Program), Walk with Dogs (Outdoor Program), Outdoor Pickleball (southwest sector).
  • MLK March: The Seattle Parks and Recreation Citywide MLK March scheduled for Saturday, January 13th has been cancelled.

SPR Pools:

SPR pools follow the Seattle Public Schools (SPS) inclement weather decision on school days. When SPS are closed, all SPR pools will be closed and all programs, including rentals, are cancelled. When SPS opens late, pools will open late (call your local pool for details) and early morning lap swim and morning rentals are cancelled. When things happen late in the day or on non-school days, SPR management will make decisions and communicate these out via pool facility voicemail and social media.

SPR Childcare:

For childcare impacts (School Age Care and Preschool), please call our childcare hotline at 206-684-4203.

More information:

Visit the City’s Winter Storm Response website for information on shelters, home and pet safety, driving and commuting, and more.

A reminder that during snow and weather events, our nearly 500 parks remain open, unless otherwise indicated. We encourage all visitors to use caution in our outdoor spaces. Wind, snow, and ice can cause tree branches to snap; please stay out from under trees and avoid forested parks during severe weather.

Please monitor our social media accounts and blog for more information on weather impacts, or call your local Seattle Parks and Recreation facility or program for more information.
