Many park bathrooms and water fountains to close for the winter
Routine winter preparation is beginning this week with many Seattle Parks and Recreation bathrooms and drinking fountains closing for the winter season to prevent pipes from freezing. We expect to complete winterizing and closing impacted facilities by early December. We will begin reopening bathrooms and water fountains in March 2023.
As part of the Park District 2023-2028 Financial Plan, Seattle Parks and Recreation is working to make all 129 public restrooms available for year-round use by the end of 2028. SPR crews have winterized 8 restrooms this year thanks to this funding. These sites that will remain open this winter for the first time are in bold and italics.
The following restrooms are scheduled to remain OPEN during the winter. While we strive to keep these restrooms open for the winter, there may be times when we must close them for repair or due to extreme low temperatures. Some restrooms that are normally open year-round are not included in the list below because they are currently closed for capital improvement projects or repairs.
