MOHAI (Museum of History and Industry) is a museum on the shore of South Lake Union that tells the story of the Seattle region by exploring it’s past, present, and future. Each year, through a partnership agreement with Seattle Parks and Recreation, MOHAI provides free school trips for schools that qualify, free admission days, and free admission for certain people.
Free school trips: Free school trips are available to schools that:
- Public School with 40% or more of enrolled students that qualify for government subsidized meals
- Federally funded Headstart or ECEAP program
- Youth program receiving 5% or more of its funding from government sources
- Youth program in which 40% or more of the enrolled children receive some form of public assistance
Scholarships are also available to adult tour groups that serve low-income communities. Bus transportation reimbursement is also available to groups that qualify. More info here.
Free Admission Days: The museum is free on first Thursdays of every month and on Smithsonian Day (April 4). You can also check out a free membership pass from Seattle Public Library.
Free or Reduced Price Admission: The museum is free or discounted for those who qualify for Museums for All (those with SNAP benefits), Teen Tix, and always free to youth under 14.
