Portland Loo Open House and Lucas Spivey’s Mobile Incubator at Ballard Commons Park

Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR) invites the community to come learn about a new project at Ballard Commons Park and visit Lucas Spivey’s Mobile Incubator. Please stop by the Open House from 11 a.m.to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the park, 5701 22nd Ave NW and learn about the Portland Loo project.

The goal of the project is to install a restroom at the southeast corner of Ballard Commons Park. A Portland Loo has been selected as the new restroom for this site. A Portland Loo is a unique, patented outdoor bathroom that is easy to clean and maintain. After extensive community outreach in 2015, access to a convenient public restroom facility was determined to be critical for the economic wellbeing and livability of the business district and central Ballard neighborhood. Additionally, in order to continue to have a water feature at Ballard Commons Park, SPR must comply with public health regulations to have a restroom available to park users. The restroom will be installed during the summer of 2019.

Also, at Ballard Commons Park on Nov. 16 through Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the Mobile Incubator funded by the Arts in Parks program, an initiative of Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Office of Arts and Culture. The Mobile Incubator is a mobile office where artists, designers, performers, writers and other cultural entrepreneurs can come to seek free business advice for their creative ventures. This is free and open to all.
