Olmsted Legacy Task Force Seeks Community Input

The Olmsted Legacy Task Force has begun its work and held its first meeting on March 28, 2018. The legacy of the Olmsted Brothers’ landscape architecture firm was extremely influential to the creation of Seattle’s park system at the start of the 20th century, and SPR would like to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for these parks. That’s why SPR has brought together Friends of Seattle Olmsted Parks (FSOP) and other stakeholders onto this task force to determine, over a period of 6-8 months, a set of recommendations on how we can best preserve, protect and expand the Olmsted Legacy in our parks. At the conclusion of this task force’s work, the recommendations will be presented to the SPR Superintendent and the Board of Park Commissioners.

The task force would love to hear from the community about their thoughts on this issue, so be sure to attend our monthly meetings and share your input! The next meeting of the Olmsted Legacy Task Force will be on April 25, 2018, at 6:30PM at the SPR Administration Building located at 100 Dexter Ave N, Seattle, WA.
