It’s National Volunteer Week, and that means Seattle Parks and Recreation volunteers can put down their gardening gloves and coaching whistles and enjoy some freebies April 23-29!
Volunteers play a crucial role in our neighborhood parks, community centers and recreation programs throughout the city and their contributions are invaluable to the department. In 2015, 38,386 people volunteered for Seattle Parks and Recreation, providing 270,360 hours of service, which is a donation valued by Independent Sector at $23.07 per hour or $6.2 million dollars in 2015.
We’re saying thank you to our thousands of volunteers by offering them free admission to many local places of interest during National Volunteer Week. Venues include the Asian Art Museum, the Northwest African American Museum, MOHAI, the Museum of Glass, Olympic Sculpture Park, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, the Seattle Chinese Garden, Pacific Science Center and more!
Registered volunteers were sent email invitations that include information about the National Volunteer Week deals.
