Westlake Park Reopening Celebration

Seatle Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with Seattle Parks Foundation, invites the community to celebrate the grand reopening of Westlake Park! Please join us on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 401 Pine Street in Seattle from 5 to 6:30 pm for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music, food, and more.

The updated park provides a downtown gathering space with a welcoming atmosphere that supports games, music, food trucks, events, and community.  The project also addressed accessibility and infrastructure needs at the park while maintaining the free public spaces for all.

“I look forward to opening this renovated park and welcoming Seattle back to the heart of downtown,” said Seattle Mayor Katie B. Wilson. “Westlake Park serves downtown workers, residents, tourists, and kids. It is a transit hub and provides a vital link to the City’s great attractions. We are happy to be celebrating this park renovation that is a welcoming place for both locals and visitors from across the world.”

“Seattle has a beautiful new front porch in the heart of the city with the redesigned Westlake Park. We are grateful for our partnership in this project with Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Downtown Seattle Association, the Downtown Community Council, and the SeattleFWC26. We are also thrilled with our partners at Berger Partnership, Sellen Construction, and the Pine Street Group, who were able to complete this project in just 18 months while being responsive to community needs.” said Rebecca Bear, President and CEO of Seattle Parks Foundation. “With this park project, our city is one step closer to welcoming the world!”

Over the past year, Seattle Parks and Recreation and Seattle Parks Foundation have convened residents, public agencies, businesses, property owners, and community service providers to improve Westlake Park and reinvigorate downtown Seattle’s community commons. We are excited to welcome the neighborhood back to this beloved public space.

The Westlake Park improvements will enhance park visitors’ experiences and serve families, tourists, locals, businesses, and property owners alike by creating a more open gathering space and providing amenities to encourage people to spend more time in the heart of the city.

“We’ve been managing events and activities in Westlake Park for more than a decade, and we can’t wait to help make this space even more vibrant than before. With millions of visitors coming to downtown during the summer season, soccer fans flocking to Seattle for the World Cup, and a record residential population, the refurbished Westlake Park will be full of free family-friendly activities all summer and beyond,” said Jon Scholes, Downtown Seattle Association, President and CEO.
