Volunteer Events
Earth Day Stencil Storm Drains
- Date: Monday, April 21, 2025 (Rain date: Thursday, April 24, 2025)
- Time: 1–2:30 p.m.
- Location: Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center (outside front entrance)
- Details: Help stencil storm drains in Ravenna to increase awareness of pollutants entering local waterways. Note that the activity involves uneven ground and about a one-mile distance.
- Cost: Free. Register here.
- Ages: 50+ (Lifelong Recreation Program)
Earth Day at the Locks
- Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
- Time: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Location: Fish Ladder Plaza, South End Locks
- Details: Participate in habitat restoration and help install a pollinator garden. This is a family-friendly event.
- Registration: Email lockvolunteer@usace.army.mil to sign up.
Clean Up The Cuts
- Date: Every 2nd Saturday (ongoing)
- Time: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Location: Fremont or Montlake Cut
- Details: Join in to clean up either of these iconic Seattle spots. Tools and gloves will be provided.

Celebrations
Earth Day at Bitter Lake Community Center
- Date: Tuesday, April 22, 2025
- Time: 3:30–5 p.m.
- Location: Bitter Lake Community Center
- Details: Celebrate Earth Day and the newly renovated play area, restroom, and tennis court lighting in partnership with Bitter Lake Community Center.
- Cost: Free
Carkeek Park Earth Day Celebration
- Date: Saturday, April 19, 2025
- Time: 10 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Location: Playground at Carkeek Park
- Details: Celebrate with games, nature activities, volunteer projects, and intertidal beach exploration.
- Cost: Free

Educational Activities
Arbor Day Neighborhood Tree Walk
- Date: Wednesday, April 23, 2025
- Time: 10:30 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Location: Starting at High Point Commons Park
- Details: Join an urban naturalist for a guided neighborhood tree walk as part of Arbor Day celebrations. Registered participants will receive the meetup details.

Ladybug Festival at Garfield Community Center
- Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
- Time: 2–4 p.m.
- Location: Garfield Community Center
- Details: Enjoy family-friendly activities, led by Environmental Educators and local partners. Don’t miss the highlight of the day—the release of ladybugs in the community garden!

City Nature Challenge
- Date: April 25–28, 2025
- Location: Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle, WA
- Details: Participate in this global citizen science challenge to document local wildlife using your phone or camera.

City Nature Challenge Walk
- Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
- Time: 9–11 a.m.
- Location: Starting at Dragon Pavilion
- Details: Join a guided walk to learn all about the City Nature Challenge.

Nature Journaling at Longfellow Creek
- Date & Time 1: Friday, April 18, 2025 | 4–6 p.m.
- Date & Time 2: Saturday, April 19, 2025 | 2–4 p.m.
- Location: Longfellow Creek
- Details: Join a stroll along Longfellow Creek with a naturalist to discover plants and animals in this urban watershed. Practice nature journaling skills with a free journal provided for participants.

Mushrooms and More at Discovery Park
- Date: Saturday, April 19, 2025
- Time: 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Location: Discovery Park
- Details: Learn about spring fungi and the broader world of fungi from SPR’s Environmental Education team. Photography is welcome during this educational adventure.

Nature Walk at Carkeek Park
- Date: Wednesday, April 23, 2025
- Time: 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Location: Carkeek Park
- Details: Explore Carkeek Park with a naturalist. Use mindfulness to heighten awareness of the natural world and discover signs of spring.
