Seattle Parks and Recreation to Develop Integrated Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan for Green Lake

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) will host the first public meeting for the development of the Green Lake Park Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. Please join us from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Hearthstone at Green Lake Chapel, 6720 E Green Lake Way N, Seattle, WA 98103.

During this meeting, you will have an opportunity to learn more about the purpose of the plan and next steps. Our project team will discuss the need for an Integrated Aquatic Vegetation Management Plan and how it will define aquatic plant management goals and strategies for Green Lake. Both public input and a steering committee composed of aquatic plant specialists will help develop the plan.

Since the 1980s, SPR has managed aquatic plants due to finding Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum) and Brazilian elodea (Egeria densa) in the lake. This plan will help provide an outline for future management strategies.  A draft plan will be completed and presented at a second public meeting with the final plan completed by the end of 2024.
