Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is replacing the existing Stan Sayres Boat Ramp, 3808 Lake Washington Blvd S adjacent to Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center, which has reached the end of its useful life. Forma Construction will mobilize on Tuesday, September 8 to begin this work on the north section ramp. SPR anticipates this work will be completed by mid-October 2026.
The entirety of Stan Sayres Boat Ramp will be closed until this work is complete Motorized boats can be launched at Magnuson Park Boat Ramp, Sunnyside Boat Ramp on Lake Union and Atlantic City Boat Ramp in Rainier Beach.
A portion of the parking area for Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing facility will remain, however, the majority of the parking lot will be closed for construction equipment and staging which includes a large construction crane. SPR will open the parking area as soon as safely possible.
SPR received a grant for $1.6 million for this project from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office’s Boating Facilities Program. Work on additional ramps and the piers will occur in 2027.
