Heading into its 6th year, Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is offering to waive fees for community individuals or groups to host performance-based art in select Seattle Parks. Performances can consist of an array of styles and include: theatrical, comedic, spoken word, toast masters, acoustical concerts, and more.
This opportunity is open to new permittees who host their event in one of nineteen Seattle parks near or around the Park’s amphitheater. Parks include 6th Avenue NW Pocket Park, A. B. Ernst, Be’er Sheva, Cesar Chavez, Commodore, Counterbalance, Daejeon, Dr. Blanche Lavizzo, Dr. Jose Rizal, Warren G. Magnuson Park, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Civil Rights Memorial, Dragonfly Pavilion (In Longfellow Creek), First Hill, Fremont Peak, Greenwood, Jefferson, Jimi Hendrix, Othello, and Solstice Park.
Applications are based on a first-come, first-serve process, on a rolling calendar. To qualify, applicants must be willing to meet the requirements for the fees to be waived. Requirements, in addition to the above, include: open to the public, minimal amplified sound, no money collection, providing event insurance, and committing to conduct outreach to the neighborhood where the event is hosted.
