Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is seeking Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for service providers to operate youth programming at Red Barn Ranch. The initiative aims to connect elementary, middle, and high school students from Seattle and King County with nature through facilitated outdoor activities, aligning with SPR’s mission to support healthy people, a thriving environment, and vibrant communities.
The primary goal for Red Barn Ranch, located at 17601 SE Lake Moneysmith Rd in Auburn, is to improve the mental and physical health of youth, particularly those from historically underserved communities. SPR is seeking partners to offer programs such as equine activities, community gardening, trail building, and environmental restoration to address nature deficiency among young people.
Applicants can apply for up to $200,000 in funding to cover all necessary program expenses, including staffing, transportation for participants, materials, and other operational costs. The selected organization will have the flexibility to allocate funds based on their program’s specific needs, while ensuring alignment with objectives outlined in the RFQ.
Awardees will be responsible for providing all temporary facilities required for program operations, as the site currently lacks infrastructure like running water or electricity. This includes portable restrooms, hand washing stations, and other essential accommodations for a safe, 100% outdoor environment.
Proposals for the RFQ are due by April 6, 2026. Following an evaluation period, the award notification is scheduled for April 22, 2026. The program agreement will run from June to December 2026.
