We Are Hiring: Help Us Bring Nature Education to Seattle
Our team works tirelessly to bring nature education to thousands of kids, adults, and families across the city. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to learn about the environment right in their own backyard. To keep up with demand and continue delivering high-quality programming, we are looking for passionate individuals to fill these key roles.
1. Community Naturalist
As a Seattle Parks and Recreation Naturalist you will develop, coordinate, and implement engaging, culturally relevant natural science and urban environmental education programs, classes, and activities for diverse populations throughout Seattle. 2. Group Registration Specialist
Seattle Parks and Recreation’s Citywide Environmental Education Team is recruiting an experienced customer service-oriented individual who will work as a first-line receptionist and registrar with teachers, parents and school groups who wish to book Environmental Education programs. 3. Public Education Program Specialist
As a Public Education Program Specialist, you will report to the supervisor of environmental education and will oversee and train volunteers and interns who will assist you in offering public nature programs in parks across the city. These programs include our Summer in the Parks nature stations partnership with Seattle’s summer free lunch program, the Salmon Stewards program at Carkeek Park, fee based public nature programs and many special events.

4. Administrative Staff Assistant – Environmental Education
This position conducts research and data collection for special projects; manages and monitors program budgets; supports personnel activities; leads special programs and projects; prepares grants and contracts; oversees core office operations including reporting and cash handling; and supervises staff.

Winter in the Pacific Northwest is far from dormant. Our parks are alive with activity, and we have curated a selection of programs to help you experience the season in new ways. Registration is open now!
Tidepooling After Dark
Experience the beach like never before.
Venturing out at night reveals a completely different side of marine life. Join our naturalists for a guided exploration of the intertidal zone under the cover of darkness. We will look for nocturnal creatures and learn how they survive the winter tides.

The Medicine of Winter
Find wellness in nature.
Join a Seattle Parks Naturalist to learn about the medicine of nature in January! We will meander the forest of Discovery Park, bathing in the beauty of nature and observing how the forest is preparing to move slowly in Winter. Learn some winter plant ID techniques and about which plants are used as medicines.

Nature Escape Room
Test your wits at Camp Long.
Gather your friends or family for a unique challenge. Our nature-themed escape room combines puzzle-solving with environmental education. Can you solve the clues and “escape” before time runs out? We have three sessions available to fit your schedule.

Quiet Beauty: Plants in Winter
Discover the subtle side of botany.
Without their flashy flowers and leaves, winter plants reveal beautiful structures and adaptations. This walk at Carkeek Park focuses on identification and appreciation of the flora that keeps our parks green (and brown!) all year long.
