2026 MLK Day March & Celebration on January 17

Join Seattle Parks and Recreation as we come together to honor the enduring life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This special day of reflection, unity, and community action will be highlighted by a youth-led march and celebration, guided by the theme: “Your Time is Now.”

We invite you, your family, and your neighbors to participate in this free event designed to celebrate Dr. King’s message while uplifting the powerful voices of our community’s youth.

March Schedule

The day begins with a gathering at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Park, leading into a spirited march to the Rainier Community Center.

  • 11:00 AM – Gather at MLK Jr. Memorial Park
    • Location: 2200 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way
    • Join us at this significant landmark to pay tribute to Dr. King and prepare for the day’s events.
  • 11:30 AM – Youth Speeches and Entertainment
    • Hear from inspiring youth leaders and enjoy live performances that set the tone for the march.
  • 12:30 PM – Youth-Led March to Rainier Community Center
    • Walk in solidarity as we march from the park to the community center, demonstrating our collective commitment to Dr. King’s vision.

Celebration at Rainier Community Center

The celebration continues after the march at the Rainier Community Center, a hub for community connection and engagement.

  • Location: 4600 38th Ave S, Seattle
  • Activities Include:
    • Live music and performances from local artists.
    • Complimentary food and opportunities to connect with community members.
    • Engaging activities centered around youth voice, unity, and Dr. King’s message.
