Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) has issued the Notice to Proceed (NTP) to Kessel & Associates for construction on a three-play-area renovation package, beginning Monday, July 28, 2025. This package includes play area improvements at View Ridge Playfield Playground, Ward Springs, and Bryant Neighborhood Playground, with phased construction planned to minimize community disruption.
Construction will begin immediately at View Ridge and Ward Springs, with both sites undergoing play area renovations, accessibility upgrades and View Ridge will also receive restroom renovations. These two sites will run concurrently and are expected to be complete by the end of 2025. Once work at View Ridge is complete and the site has reopened to the public, construction at Bryant play area will begin. Bryant’s scope of work includes play area and accessibility renovations.
“This bundled project allows us to efficiently deliver improvements to three neighborhood play areas in a coordinated way,” said AP Diaz, Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation. “By streamlining construction, we’re able to maximize impact, minimize disruption, and bring high-quality play spaces to more communities, faster.”
Seattle Park District Cycle 2 provides the funding for these projects, as well as funding for other improvements across Seattle’s nearly 500 parks, playfields, and community centers to remain welcoming places for recreation, learning, and healthy communities.
The improvements are part of SPR’s ongoing commitment to delivering safe, inclusive, and high-quality play spaces for all Seattle residents. SPR appreciates the community’s patience during construction and looks forward to welcoming families back to these renovated neighborhoods play areas.
