Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to be moving the capital improvement project at Soundview Playfields forward. This project transforms Fields 1 and 2 from natural grass to synthetic turf, unlocking additional field time for the community. SPR is committed to equitably distributing field time, with a particular focus on supporting new and emerging user groups that have historically faced barriers to access recurring field time in the system.
If your organization or group is interested in securing time on the new fields, please complete our Field Time Interest Form by May 1, 2025. The form is the first step in a process that ensures we gather the necessary information to allocate time equitably. About the Soundview Playfield Renovation
After delays caused by budget constraints and the pandemic, the long-awaited renovation of Soundview Playfields is finally underway. Please watch the website for a groundbreaking celebration in early May. Construction is set to begin in late spring 2025, with completion expected in November 2025. Here’s what’s coming:
- Synthetic Turf Conversion: Natural grass will be replaced with synthetic turf, enabling all-season, multi-sport use (there are two ballfield diamonds, and a rectangle field for football, frisbee, and soccer).
- Field Lighting: New lights will extend playable hours into the evening.
- Accessible Upgrades: Improved pathways and additional amenities will ensure inclusivity for all users.
