Willow Creek Fish Passage Restoration Project

Seattle Department of Transportation in collaboration with Seattle Parks and Recreation hosted a ribbon cutting event for the opening of the Willow Creek Fish Passage Restoration Project on Thursday, March 27 at 4 p.m. The project is located at 2510 NE 100th St. in northeast Seattle.

The project is designed to restore natural habitats and eliminate barriers to fish migration by redirecting Willow Creek away from a culvert. The improvements involved re-routing the creek and removing two culverts, one of which partially blocked fish passage.

Additionally, the project enhanced the creek’s habitat by planting new trees and shrubs improving stormwater drainage, and installing a pedestrian bridge. The bridge now connects the cul-de-sac to nearby Seattle Parks and REcreation natural areas, further integrating the restored environment into the community.
