Seattle Public Schools (SPS) invites the community to attend the second public meeting to discuss the proposed development of a new synthetic turf athletic field to support Lincoln High School and the public. This update meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 20, at 6:00 p.m. at Lincoln High School, 4400 Interlake Avenue N. Seattle Public Schools reviewed input from the initial outreach events and continues to evaluate potential locations.
During the meeting, SPS we will discuss their ongoing evaluation of potential sites, including Wallingford Playfield, Queen Anne Bowl, and other community-suggested locations. They will review what has been heard from the community about the Wallingford Playfield option and go over the decision-making process and timeline. This project remains focused on creating a field that prioritizes student safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
The proposed Lincoln High School Practice Field will provide students and the public with a state-of-the-art, full-size synthetic turf field for soccer, multi-use and football, along with on-site amenities such as restrooms and athletic equipment storage. Following the approval of the 2022 capital levy by Seattle voters, SPS committed to addressing this need by including a new practice field for Lincoln High School in the list of school-specific projects. Additionally, a practice running track at the nearby Lower Woodland #7 field is proposed to be upgraded to meet the needs of Lincoln’s growing track and field program.
