Seattle Parks and Recreation is happy to announce we issued the notice to proceed on Thursday, October 31 to Coast to Coast Turf for the Mickey Merriam Playfield #8 project. Coast to Coast will mobilize on site in early November to start the turf replacement construction project. This project will replace the aging synthetic turf infield, approximately, 25,600 square feet and regrade the portions of the field.
Coast to Coast Turf will close the entire field for this project and work to minimize the construction impact to Magnuson Park visitors and the neighborhood. We anticipate the completion of the project by the end of February 2025.
Seattle Parks and Recreation is investing in a state-of-the-art synthetic turf system for our playfields that is safe, playable, durable, and retains less heat in the summer. Our standard is to provide a sustainable cork and sand infill over a cushioned pad system supporting our commitment to Healthy People, a Thriving Environment and Vibrant Community. This project is funded by the Seattle Park District Phase 2 which provides funding for this project along with funding to ensure Seattleās nearly 500 parks, playfields, and community centers remain welcoming places for recreation, learning, and healthy communities.
Mickey Merriam Playfield #8 is located in Warren G. Magnuson Park at 7400 Sand Point Way NE. in the Sand Point neighborhood.
