Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to provide input on the renovation project at Dr. Jose Rizal Park. Please visit our booth on Saturday, November 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at El Centro de la Raza’s Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Centilia Cultural Center, 1660 S. Roberto Maestas Festival Street. The festival will feature food, a mercado, live music and entertainment, children’s activities, and to an opportunity to see the ofrenda (altar) exhibit.
“We’re excited to join El Centro de la Raza for their Dia de los Muertos celebration and engage the community in shaping the future of Dr. Jose Rizal Park,” said AP Diaz, Superintendent of Seattle Parks and Recreation. “This is a special opportunity for residents to provide feedback, and we’re looking forward to hearing your thoughts on how we can enhance this park space.”
SPR will be at the festival to gather valuable community feedback about design concepts and layouts for the renovation project. SPR design team looks forward to sharing park concepts and gathering input from the community. Another place to share wants and dreams for the park is this park survey https://seattle.surveymonkey.com/r/2Z5NLYV. While not all park elements in the design concepts are currently funded, we are actively working to consider fundraising and grant opportunities to achieve the community vision.
The project will renovate the upper section of Dr. Jose Rizal Park, enhancing its amenities and overall experience for visitors. In addition, the restroom will be renovated in 2025, ahead of this park improvement project.
