Leap into the renovated Dearborn Park Play Area

Ribbon Cutting Celebration!  Feb. 29, 2024

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) invites the community to a celebration, “Leap into the new play area at Dearborn Park” on February 29 between 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. SPR is hosting a ribbon cutting celebration with music and light refreshments in collaboration with Dearborn Park International School PTA. Dearborn Park is located at 2919 S Brandon St. on Beacon Hill just north of the Dearborn Park Elementary School and east of Martin Luther King Jr. Way S.

“We are excited to deliver a more accessible renovated play area and gathering space that will foster a thriving and healthy community,” said AP Diaz, Seattle Parks and Recreation Superintendent. “Thank you to everyone who participated in the public process and helped shape this wonderful urban oasis. It is truly a place to play amongst the trees and meet your neighbors.”

The renovated park now offers new play equipment with a forest theme, swings, picnic tables, and improved accessibility. Additionally, the play area includes educational panels with information on trees, birds and plants of the northwest. This design is based on the feedback we heard from our community meeting and two surveys.
