Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to share the preferred schematic design for the new play area at the Rainier Community Center with the community. Please join us at the following engagement opportunities to meet the design team and learn how your input shaped the preferred design:
- Columbia City Farmers Market December 9, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 37th Ave. S and S Edmunds Street
- Columbia City Night Market: December 16, from 6 – 10 p.m. at 37th Ave. S and S Edmunds Street
This project will replace the existing play area located next to Rainier Community Center, including renovation of the plaza and shelter, as well as the addition of accessible seating areas. The play area will incorporate exciting new features for children ages 2-5 and 5-12, such as a sand station, climbing structure, boat feature and more. All improvements will meet accessibility requirements, including routes to the play area, as well as stormwater requirements.
The Rainier Community Center play area is located east of the community center at 4600 38th Ave. S.
