Magnolia Community Center Closes for Renovation

Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR) temporarily closed Magnolia Community Center on September 2, 2023 in preparation for the Magnolia Community Center Stabilization Project and in coordination with Seattle Public Schools Catherine Blaine K-8 Improvement project. Magnolia Community Center was identified in the 2016 Community Center Strategic plan for a major maintenance project focused on extending the life of the facility and increasing programming potential. Magnolia Community Center is located on the Magnolia Playfield at the west edge of Magnolia village. 2550 34th Ave W, Seattle, WA 98199.

This renovation project will replace the roof and provide structural/seismic enhancements for gym, access to roof, fall restraints, structural improvements, window replacement/upgrade for multipurpose rooms, hallway and front entry floor replacement, restroom remodel, accessibility improvements, wheelchair lift between lobby and gym, electrical upgrades, exit signage, ventilation improvements, and kitchen remodel.

We anticipate reopening the facility in spring 2025.

SPR understands the importance of programming and services that this center provides and has worked with community partners along with Ballard Community Center, Queen Anne Community Center and Discovery Park Visitor Center to relocate some services during the closure.
