Community Kick-off meeting Set For Aug. 29, 2023

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is proud to partner with our partners KABOOM!, a non-profit organization that helps communities build playgrounds, The McKinney Center for Community & Economic Development, a community preservation and Development authority named in honor of the Rev. Dr. Samuel Berry McKinney, and Associated Recreation Council (ARC), a longtime SPR partner that offers a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities to help renovate the Blanche Lavizzo Play Area!

SPR is inviting the Central District community to attend the first design workshop for the Dr. Blanche Lavizzo play area renovation on Tuesday, Aug. 29 at The McKinney Center, 2120 S. Jackson St. The Kids Design Workshop runs from 6:30 to 7 p.m. and the Adult Design Workshop from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park is located in the Central District at 2050 S Jackson St, Seattle, WA 98144.  This renovation project will replace the play equipment with new play structures for children of all abilities and ages 2 to 12. We anticipate construction starting in October with completion by the end of the year 2023.
