Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) tournament comes to Seattle!

Lower Woodland Tennis Courts Temporarily Closed for 3 Weeks

Seattle Parks and Recreation is proud to welcome the Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) “Seattle Open” Tournament July 26 to July 30 at Lower Woodland Tennis Courts.

The tournament will feature amateur and pro matches, as well as clinics and events. Community members can purchase tickets to watch the world’s best pickleball at the PPA Tour website.

The Lower Woodland Tennis Courts will be temporarily closed to the public during the tournament, as well as for approximately one week before and after the event for resurfacing.

Lower Woodland tennis courts will remain striped for tennis except for this special event. The upcoming PPA event is a temporary use for pickleball, but the courts will be returned for tennis only. PPA will be striping the courts for the pickleball tournament and then resurfacing and restriping all 10 courts at Lower Woodland for tennis only, thereby improving playability and extending the life of the courts.

We look forward to hosting this world-class pickleball tournament at our facilities and for the opportunity that this temporary conversion provides for showcasing what dedicated, professional pickleball courts can look like. Seattle Parks and Recreation is excited to continue to support access to pickleball by exploring funding and spaces to build dedicated pickleball courts in our system. Thank you to the tennis community for allowing the space for this tournament to occur and we look forward to providing the community with newly resurfaced tennis courts following the tournament.
