Arboretum “Tot Lot” Play Area Opens

Community Celebration!

Seattle Parks and Recreation, University of Washington Botanic Gardens and the Arboretum Foundation invite the community to join us on July 19, 2023 from 10 a.m. to noon to celebrate the renovation of the Lynn Street “Tot Lot” play area. The morning will be full of fun with kids activities, lemonade, music and exploring the new play area. The play area is located on the western edge of Washington Park Arboretum at East Lynn Street & 26th Avenue East.

This play area renovation project enhanced safety and improved overall accessibility for young children. The new play equipment is located within the previous play area footprint and offers opportunities for sliding and climbing.  An education panel on the play equipment displays graphics of animal tracks.

To increase project efficiency, this project was bundled with two other play areas (Cal Anderson Park play area Soundview Terrace). SPR awarded the construction contract for all three projects to LW Sundstrom, Inc.

We anticipate the Cal Anderson Park play area will be completed by the end of July and the Soundview Terrace renovation will be completed in September.
