6 Reasons to Join the Seattle Parks & Recreation Team this Summer 

We’re still hiring for summer jobs! We think Seattle Parks and Recreation is a great place to work, and we want to share some of the reasons why with you.  

 

We have fun!  

It might seem too good to be true, but with Seattle Parks & Recreation you can literally get paid, to have fun! Sure, there are administrative parts to every job, but at the heart of it our work is about creating opportunities for play, fitness, wellness, and nutrition citywide.   

Entry-level jobs to build skills and launch your career 

Temporary employment during the summer months is a great way to get your foot in the door and learn more about the Parks and Recreation profession. Many Parks & Rec employees join our team as youth interns, then became temporary summer staff, and ultimately get permanent City jobs with great benefits and paid-time-off. You can too!  

  On-the-job training 

Many positions in the Recreation Division require training such as Red Cross First Aid and CPR. As an SPR employee, we’ll provide you that training at no cost within your first 30-days of employment.  

Competitive pay 

Hourly wages for all positions start at minimum wage of $18.69 plus 5% premium pay in lieu of benefits. Our summer jobs can pay as much as $33.33 per hour depending on your skills and experience!  

Drive a Seattle Parks van  

Okay, this one might seem silly… but some of our summer jobs require you to drive a 15-passenger van. We’ll provide access to a Defensive Driving training and support you as you learn to navigate our parking lots to deliver food, fun, and play to community! (Reminder: We also have summer jobs that do not require driving City vehicles.)
