Seattle Board of Parks and Recreation Commission to hold public hearing on next 6-year funding plan for Seattle Park District

The Seattle Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners will hold a public hearing on Thursday, May 12, 2022 on the Board’s draft recommendations for funding for the Seattle Park District’s next six-year cycle (2023-2028). The meeting will be held virtually.

Since the last week of March 2022, the Board has been conducting a process to review and prioritize 41 proposals funded by the Park District designed to provide clean, safe and welcoming parks, enhance access, services and recreation programs; and invest in the future. Three Board subcommittees met several times during the month of April to make their recommendations, which were summarized in a draft report by Board Co-Chairs Marlon Herrera and Jessica Farmer.

The Seattle Park District was approved by Seattle voters in August 2014. The first six-year cycle of Park District-funded projects and programs began in 2015.
