The Trust for Public Lands has ranked Seattle in the top 10 cities nationwide in its 2021 ParkScore index. Seattle was No. 9 on the list, moving up from No. 14 last year.
The index is a national comparison of park systems across the 100 most populated cities in the United States. Published annually, the index measures park systems according to five categories: access, investment, amenities, acreage, and—a significant new category for 2021—equity. TPL measures equity through park space per capita, 10-minute walk, by race and income.
