|Over Memorial Day weekend, Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Seattle Department of Transportation are opening 1 mile of Lake Washington Blvd from Mt Baker Park to Genesee Park to people walking, rolling, and biking. We’ll close this stretch to cars around noon on Friday, May 28 and crews will remove the barricades the morning of Tuesday, June 1. |
While the number of vaccinated King County residents continues to grow and as we move toward reopening, children under 12 are currently not eligible for vaccines. We’re working with SDOT to provide more space for people to get outside and play in a healthy way.
What about the rest of the summer?
The global pandemic provided the opportunity to experience the city in a different way and we received a significant volume of input on how Lake Washington Boulevard might operate this summer. We’re still finalizing plans for what the rest of the summer will look like on the Boulevard. In the meantime, we’ll close 1 mile (Mt Baker Park to Genesee Park) on weekends* and will share more as soon as plans are finalized.
*For reliable walking/biking access each weekend, crews will place barricades each Friday PM and remove them each Monday AM (they’ll keep the barricades up longer to accommodate holidays).
