Seattle Parks and Recreation will delay Seattle Park District planning process

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) will delay planning for the next 6-year Park District budget. SPR began planning for the next Park District budget cycle in early 2020 in anticipation of a November 2020 vote by City Council.

To date, the department has convened multiple Park Board and Park District Oversight Committee meetings, held one public meeting, and put an online survey out to the community.

Due to the COVID-19 emergency, SPR has decided that this planning process and budget approval will be on hold due to challenges in getting the needed robust community input during the current health emergency. We will provide additional information once next steps are determined.
