Yesler Terrace Park celebration full of music, art & activities

Seattle Parks and Recreation and the Seattle Housing Authority (SHA) invite the community to celebrate the new Yesler Terrace Park on Saturday, August 25, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with sports activities until 7 p.m. and an outdoor movie, Moana, at 8 p.m. on the park lawn. This new park provides a much-needed outdoor community gathering place and is located at 835 Yesler Way, immediately adjacent to Yesler Community Center. With sweeping views to downtown, Elliott Bay and Mount Rainier, Yesler Terrace Park is the new heart of the Yesler neighborhood.

The community is encouraged to come explore the new park and participate in the many activities throughout the day. The park offers something for everyone in its two-acre footprint. Here is what you will find during the event:

  • 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
  • Noon – 12:30 p.m.
    • Ribbon Cutting ceremony
  • 12:30 p.m.
    • Spraypark opens
  • 3 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.
    • 3-on-3 basketball tournament with a special thank you to Seattle Storm for prizes
    • RAVE Field activities
  • 8 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
    • Outdoor community movie night. Movie: Moana. Please bring your own chairs and blankets.
  • Parking is limited. Visitors are encouraged to take the bus number 60 or 27 or the First Hill Street Car. The new park is the result of a successful partnership with Seattle Housing Authority and public-private donations that include Seattle Parks Foundation, RAVE Foundation (the official charitable arm of the Seattle Sounders FC), Wyncote Foundation Northwest, Pendleton and Elisabeth Carey Miller Charitable Foundation, The Community Parks Fund, Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and the Office of Arts and Culture.
