The Seattle Japanese Garden’s big summer event, named ‘Festival in the Evening Sun’ for 2018, welcomes the public on Thursday, July 12 for a traditional Japanese dinner and drinks in sublime surroundings. From 6 to 9 pm, guests will celebrate the garden by evening light while listening to a jazz trio and watching the koi.
In its eighth year, the Garden Party’s proceeds support affordable public access to the garden, as well as the specialized needs of the garden, including cultural events, garden stewardship volunteer programs, and community outreach.
Seattle Parks and Recreation, which manages the Seattle Japanese Garden, reached an agreement in 2016 with the non-profit Arboretum Foundation for the Foundation to be the primary support organization for the Garden.
This year the Arboretum Foundation is pleased to unveil a new donor circle to acknowledge those who contribute $500-$10,000 annually in support of the Garden. As a Camellia Circle member, donors will help steward and enhance the landscapes and programs of this beloved public space for future generations.
