Community invited to Garden Party fundraiser at Seattle Japanese Garden, July 12

The Seattle Japanese Garden’s big summer event, named ‘Festival in the Evening Sun’ for 2018, welcomes the public on Thursday, July 12 for a traditional Japanese dinner and drinks in sublime surroundings. From 6 to 9 pm, guests will celebrate the garden by evening light while listening to a jazz trio and watching the koi.

In its eighth year, the Garden Party’s proceeds support affordable public access to the garden, as well as the specialized needs of the garden, including cultural events, garden stewardship volunteer programs, and community outreach.

Seattle Parks and Recreation, which manages the Seattle Japanese Garden, reached an agreement in 2016 with the non-profit Arboretum Foundation for the Foundation to be the primary support organization for the Garden.

This year the Arboretum Foundation is pleased to unveil a new donor circle to acknowledge those who contribute $500-$10,000 annually in support of the Garden. As a Camellia Circle member, donors will help steward and enhance the landscapes and programs of this beloved public space for future generations.

Sponsors in 2018 of the Garden Party are the Arboretum Foundation, Seattle Parks and Recreation, Prentice Bloedel Unit 86, Tahoma Fuji Sake, Chateau Ste. Michelle, Steve Alley & Amy Scott, Skip Vonckx and Zanny Milo Noriko and Doug Palmer, Jeff Lehman & Katrina Russell, Yuka Shimizu, Joan Affleck-Smith and Nepier Smith.

Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets.

The Seattle Japanese Garden is located at 1075 Lake Washington Blvd. E. For more information, please contact Jessa Gardner, Seattle Japanese Garden Support Manager, at jgardner@arboretumfoundation.org.
