Volunteer with the Recreation Technology program!

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC) is seeking enthusiastic and engaging volunteers to teach or assist with classes during any daytime, evening, or after school Recreation Technology (RecTech) Computer Lab programs located at Delridge, South Park, Yesler, Rainier, and Rainier Beach Community Centers. The programs provide enriching educational opportunities to individuals of all ages to engage with, develop skills in, and build excitement around technology through a range of mediums and experiences. ARC offers a variety of tech training and assistance programs including computer basics, coding, 3D printing, videography, design, and ESL courses. If you have a skill to share and a desire to support the community, ARC wants to work with you!

Volunteer needs fall into three major categories including teaching, assisting classes, and building curriculum. ARC works with each volunteer to ensure that the opportunity is one that fits both the community’s needs and your personal passion for any aspect of technology. As a volunteer with ARC, you must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of people of all ages and constructively aid in the management of a classroom of students. You will always have the support of a RecTech site lead and access to our RecTech Field Supervisor. Creativity, patience, teamwork, and a love of teaching are ideal qualifications.

Each volunteer will be required to attend a two-hour meeting and training session before beginning volunteer work. ARC asks that you commit to engaging with their team, bringing your excitement for technology, and showing a passion for building up our communities.
