Enjoy the magic of puppetry at Thistle Theatre, located in Magnuson Park, Sunset Hill Community Club, and BYT Crossroads. Thistle Theatre is a non-profit performance arts company that specializes in Tabletop Bunraku puppetry, a variation of a Japanese performance art form that dates back to the 17th century. Community members of all ages are invited to experience colorful stories come alive as Thistle Theatre puppeteers share their heart and their art in unforgettable performances.

Field Trip Programming
Field trips to Thistle Theatre include free parking, school bus unload zones, common-core-aligned education guides for teachers, and of course, a 45-minute puppetry production. Also included in field trip visits are post-show presentations, featuring a puppetry demonstration and a Q&A session.
Educators interested in scheduling a field trip can make group reservations for either 10:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. weekday shows at any one of Thistle Theatre’s three locations. Group reservations should be made as early as possible for desired reservation dates, and reservations can be made by either emailing info@thistletheatre.org or by calling (206) 524-3388. School Group Discounts
For weekday school shows, tickets are only $7.00 per person (children and chaperones), and teachers receive free admission. Tickets are further reduced to $3.50 for children receiving free or reduced-price lunches. Homeschool families can also enjoy discounted $7.00 tickets, and homeschool groups receive one free teacher admission per 18 homeschool tickets booked. Affordable Puppetry Workshops
Thistle Theatre hosts many workshops throughout the year at no- to low-cost to community members. Workshop topics have included puppet-making, visual storytelling techniques, cinematic puppetry basics, and more. Typically, workshops are recommended for ages 5 and up, but some workshop events are catered to all ages. To learn more about upcoming workshops, email info@thistletheatre.org.
